Burnham lifts restrictions on disabled people’s bus passes in £60m move

• Disabled bus pass holders across England will be granted unlimited free 24/7 bus travel starting in April next year.
• The £60 million initiative removes weekday travel restrictions currently limiting free travel between 9.30am and 11pm.
• Funding for the policy will come from existing allocations, with £40 million from the Department for Work and Pensions and £20 million from the Department for Transport.
• Prime Minister Andy Burnham said that the reform is a vital measure to ease cost-of-living pressures for disabled people across the country.
• Liberal Democrat MP Tom Gordon welcomed the announcement, following nearly two years of campaigning for the change.
