Burning Quran a misuse of freedom of speech, says religious minister

“We urge the Swedish government to take action against such behaviour that cause turmoil around the world,” he said in a statement, today.

On Saturday, Paludan participated in a protest in front of the Turkish Embassy in Stockholm, where he used a lighter to burn the Quran.

He and about 100 other people gathered during the protest after Turkiye was said to have protested Sweden's membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO).

Na'im also said that the community should respect the honour of Islam, encourage dialogue and promote universal dignity values to create peace.

“Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has issued a firm statement in which he strongly condemned the actions of the Swedish politician, which showed that Malaysia is determined to stand up against any violence and hatred, especially Islamophobia."
