
At 11 am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) inched up 0.35 points to 1,722.05 from Thursday’s close of 1,721.70.
KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia stayed in positive territory at mid-morning, supported by buying interest in heavyweights, led by the industrial products, utilities and banking counters.
At 11 am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) inched up 0.35 points to 1,722.05 from Thursday’s close of 1,721.70. The benchmark index had opened 1.55 points higher at 1,723.25.
Market breadth was positive with 437 gainers versus 423 losers. A total of 527 counters were unchanged, 1,361 untraded, and 49 suspended.
Turnover stood at 1.31 billion units worth RM839.53 million.
Among heavyweights, Maybank fell two sen to RM11.20 and IHH Healthcare declined four sen to RM8.81, while Tenaga Nasional rose eight sen to RM14.68, CIMB Group added two sen to RM7.80, Press Metal Aluminium gained 17 sen to RM8.24 and Public Bank was flat at RM4.84.
On the most active list, Zetrix AI fell one sen to 85.5 sen, while VS Industry expanded 1.5 sen to 22 sen, AMS Advanced Material rose three sen to 33.5 sen, UEM Sunrise added two sen to 54 sen, and SMRT Holdings edged up half-a-sen to 17 sen.
Among the top gainers, Malaysian Pacific Industries jumped RM1.78 to RM38.12, Nestle rose 70 sen to RM98.70, UMS Integration gained 43 sen to RM6.64, Kelington Group advanced 29 sen to RM6.27, and Vitrox Corp added 29 sen to RM5.27.
As for the top losers, Dutch Lady Milk Industries slid 52 sen to RM32.34, Chin Teck Plantations dropped 40 sen to RM10.70, Allianz Malaysia fell 32 sen to RM20.96, United Plantations lost 20 sen to RM32.38, and Hong Leong Bank declined 14 sen to RM22.72.
On the index board, the FBM Emas Index rose 7.13 points to 12,713.29, the FBMT 100 Index gained 4.26 points to 12,551.19, the FBM Emas Shariah Index edged up 11.98 points to 12,577.34, the FBM 70 Index advanced 13.50 points to 18,029.75, and the FBM ACE Index increased 2.51 points to 4,638.18
By sector, the Financial Services Index eased 18.01 points to 20,264.22 and the Industrial Products and Services Index added 1.41 points to 191.37, while the Energy Index slid 1.72 points to 826.37, and the Plantation Index trimmed 29.32 points to 8,851.19.
