
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 14 ― Bursa Malaysia remained higher at mid-morning driven by renewed buying interest on selected heavyweights led by telecommunications and utilities stocks.
At 11am, the benchmark The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 6.35 points to 1,476.47 from yesterday's closing of 1,470.12. The index opened 1.77 points higher at 1,471.89
On the broader market, gainers surpassed losers 394 versus 286, while 351 counters were unchanged, 1,242 untraded and 13 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 1.12 billion units worth RM576.13 million.
Among the Bursa heavyweights, Maybank eased one sen to RM8.74, Public Bank and CIMB gained four sen each to RM4.39 and RM5.80 respectively, Petronas Chemicals added two sen to RM8.50, and TNB perked 11 sen to RM9.32.
Of the actives, SNS gained two sen to 27 sen, Advance Synergy ticked up one sen to 18 sen, Borneo Oil was unchanged at 2.5 sen, Dataprep inched up one sen to 26.5 sen, and NWP added half-a-sen to 20.5 sen.
On the index board, the FBM Emas Index advanced 32.60 points to 10,612.14, the FBMT 100 Index rose 33.27 points to 10,315.87, and the FBM Emas Shariah Index strengthened 49.76 points to 10,757.57, while FBM 70 Index edged down 2.55 points to 13,003.45 and the FBM ACE Index slipped 1.18 points to 5,493.72.
Sector-wise, the Financial Services Index was 15.83 points higher at 16,587.96, the Plantation Index added 35.95 points to 6,721.88, the Industrial Products and Services Index increased 0.53 of-a-point to 181.14, and the Energy Index climbed 7.92 points to 792.64. ― Bernama
