A bus driver was arrested after a viral video showed him driving dangerously, with tests later revealing he was positive for methamphetamine.

ALOR GAJAH: Police have detained an express bus driver to assist in an investigation into a viral video showing reckless driving.

The 53-year-old local man surrendered at the Alor Gajah district police headquarters earlier today.

He tested positive for methamphetamine during a urine screening test conducted after his arrest.

The suspect is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Alor Gajah district police chief Supt Ahmad Abu Bakar said an application for a remand order will be made at the magistrate’s court tomorrow.

Initial investigations indicate the incident occurred around 3.50 am while the bus was travelling from Ipoh to Johor Bahru.

A one-minute 20-second video of the driver operating the vehicle unsafely went viral on social media on April 16.
