DR Congo’s Rocky Bushiri is out of the World Cup because of an Achilles injury.
The Hibernian defender was hurt in last weekend's Scottish top-flight loss to Motherwell.
He was then named in Congo's World Cup squad for the tournament in North America but his club say he can take no part. His country, who only ever qualified previously as Zaire in 1974, are in Group K with Portugal, Uzbekistan and Colombia.
Coach David Gray told the Hibernian website on Wednesday: "Everyone is devastated for Rocky and the timing of this injury couldn’t be worse for him so close to the World Cup."
