SHAH ALAM: A businessman pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court here today to cheating a man of RM1.65 million in a deal to purchase a durian orchard in Raub in February 2024.

Chan Huann Heng, 58, was charged with deceiving the 66-year-old victim into transferring RM1.65 million from a company account through an invoice for the purchase of the orchard.

The offence was allegedly committed at a clubhouse in Jalan Kelab Tropicana, Petaling district, on Feb 5, 2024, under Section 420 of the Penal Code (Act 574).

If convicted, Chan, a chief executive officer of a vegetable import and export company faces up to 10 years’ imprisonment, whipping and a fine.
