A businesswoman was detained after authorities found her luxury car had no road tax or insurance renewal since 2018 during an RTD operation in KL.
A businesswoman driving a Bentley Continental sparked headlines after being detained by the Road Transport Department (RTD) for failing to renew her road tax and insurance—for eight years.
Kuala Lumpur RTD director, Hamidi Adam, revealed the arrest took place during Ops Khas Luxury at Jalan Tun Razak.
Checks showed that the luxury car belonged to her and had an expired road tax, no insurance, and no Competent Driving License (CDL), The Vibes reported.
“Investigation found that the road tax and insurance for the luxury vehicle had not been renewed since 2018.
“The woman gave the excuse that she overlooked it because previously the renewals were handled by the family,” he said in a statement today.
The RTD has seized the Bentley for further action under the Road Transport Act 1987.
This incident has left netizens buzzing, with many questioning how a luxury car could go unregulated for so long.
