
SIPITANG: Fire and rescue team here responded to three animal-related emergency calls within a 24-hour period, involving a snake, monitor lizard and wasp nest destruction.
Fire Station Chief Calvin Joe Jeafrey said the first emergency call came at 10.16am involving a snake spotted at Kampung Menengah.
Fire personnel with equipment were immediately dispatched to the scene.
“Upon arrival, the team found a snake near the victim’s house compound. Our team captured it using a snake catcher and released it into nearby forest,” he said.
Hours later, firefighters received another emergency call at 11.40am about a monitor lizard that had entered a premises in the town centre.
The reptile was found under a telephone rack and was safely captured before being released into a nearby drain.
The third incident happened at 7pm, when the Department was called to destroy a wasp nest at Kampung Pelakat.
Fire personnel found the nest near an air conditioning unit outside a house and eliminated it using insect poison spray.
