Borussia Dortmund chief Sebastian Kehl has sought to clarify comments made about Erling Haaland.

Discussing the striker's sale to Manchester City over the summer, Kehl branded Haaland "a burden" given all the speculation swirling around him.

Kehl told TV 2: "If you read the entire interview, it was very, very positive. Erling was not a burden, but the subject became a burden. Erling was very, very professional until his last day in Dortmund.

"He felt very attached to the club and behaved completely correctly.

"He is a lovely person, very respectful, but when you have to deal with questions about him and his buyout clause every day, it becomes a strain on the club and among the players.

"It wasn't Erling who was the problem."
