KUALA LUMPUR: BYD Sime Motors has launched BYD Certified in Malaysia, the brand’s official certified pre-owned vehicle programme. The launch also marks the establishment of the first official BYD Certified outlet in the Asia Pacific region, located at Sime Darby Auto Selection Glenmarie.
According to BYD Sime Motors, the programme is designed to raise trust and transparency in the pre-owned EV market by offering inspected vehicles with battery health assurance, warranty coverage, financing options and aftersales support.
The programme carries the promise “Drive Pre-Owned with Confidence” and is aimed at customers who want a more accessible way into BYD EV ownership, while still having support from the official distributor.
During the launch, BYD Certified also completed its first customer delivery with the handover of a pre-owned BYD Atto 3.
Jacob Ma, Managing Director of BYD Malaysia, said BYD Certified is an important step in making EV ownership more accessible to Malaysians as the local EV market matures. “As the EV market continues to mature, we are seeing growing interest from customers seeking quality pre-owned vehicles backed by assurance and professional support,” he said.
Adeline Lew, Managing Director of BYD Sime Motors, said every certified pre-owned BYD undergoes a comprehensive inspection by trained technicians and is supported by verified vehicle history records, battery health assessments and warranty coverage. She added that the programme also provides existing BYD owners with a trusted trade-in platform, making it easier to upgrade within the BYD ecosystem.
BYD Certified is built on five certified quality assurances. Each vehicle undergoes a 170-point inspection, while only vehicles with mileage below 100,000 km qualify for certification.
Certified vehicles must also not exceed four years of age, with defined mileage thresholds. One-year-old vehicles must have mileage of 30,000 km or less, two-year-old vehicles must be at 60,000 km or less, three-year-old vehicles at 90,000 km or less, and four-year-old vehicles at 100,000 km or less.
The programme also guarantees a certified clean history. This means certified vehicles must be free from major accidents, fire damage, flood damage and odometer tampering. Refurbishment is carried out using genuine BYD parts and approved repair standards.
Beyond the certification process, BYD Certified also includes several ownership benefits. These include a 5-day buy-back assurance, where customers are entitled to a full buy-back at the original purchase price if undisclosed structural, flood or fire damage is identified within five days of delivery.
Customers also receive support through BYD’s nationwide authorised Sales, Service and Spare Parts (3S) dealer network in Malaysia.
For existing BYD owners, the programme provides a trusted trade-in platform with transparent evaluations, allowing owners to upgrade within the BYD ecosystem while supporting long-term ownership value.
The BYD Certified outlet at Sime Darby Auto Selection Glenmarie offers a one-stop experience covering vehicle purchase, certification verification, trade-in services, financing solutions, warranty support and aftersales care.
Financing rates for BYD Certified are available from as low as 2.03%, subject to terms and conditions. Customers can also experience BYD Certified at the Weekend Showroom Event, which takes place from 24 to 26 July 2026 at Sime Darby Auto Selection Glenmarie.
