BYD is all set release a Track Edition of its Yangwang U9 2-door electric supercar. While Tesla struggles to find the time and resources to get the 2nd generation Roadster they promised back in 2017 into production, BYD has now leapfrogged them with a full-on supercar.

BYD’s performance halo car won’t even be called a BYD, instead it will parked under the “Yangwang” sub-brand in order to fetch a higher asking price.

This new variant will effectively triple the U9’s already impressive performance to a whopping 3019bhp.

The current showroom Yangwang U9 uses four motors to provide around 1300bhp (which is 970 kW). However, BYD seems to have upgraded this with new 555 kW motors at each of the four wheels for its planned new edition.

This massive power delivery makes this new version of the U9 more powerful than any current production electric hyper car. like the Lotus Evija which delivers 1972bhp and the Rimac Nevera which is slightly lower at a ridiculous 1914bhp.

The zero to 100km/h acceleration of the current (0–100 kph) is 2.36 seconds, so the Track Edition U9 could potentially rival or beat the Nürburgring lap record currently held by Mercedes-AMG One.

Did you know that the showroom base model has already achieved a lap time of 7 minutes and 17.9 seconds in November 2024 at Germany’s Nürburgring Nordschleife and its top speed was clocked at 243.5mph (which is an insane 391.94km/h).

The existing U9 will set you back about USD233,411 (1.68 million Yuan) so be ready to look at a possible price tag of USD330,000 which is really NOT That Bad!
