Watford made an attempt for PSV Eindhoven winger Steven Bergwijn yesterday.

Eindhoven Dagblad says Watford sounded out PSV for the Holland international and were prepared to pay a record fee.

The Hornets were keen on Bergwijn as an alternative to Rennes winger Ismaila Sarr.

However, Watford were informed Bergwijn is set to move elsewhere.

Sevilla chief Monchi is in advanced talks with PSV over a fee for the attacker. PSV are seeking 40m to sell.
