Former Real Madrid GM Jorge Valdano can see Raul taking charge of the first team.
Raul is in his first season in charge of Castilla.
Valdano told AS: "He will be a great coach because the intelligence that served him so much to play is going to be just as important for training.
"I have no doubt that, by character and identification with the fans, Raul as a coach can mark the history of the club."
He also said: "Let's say I discovered him for myself. I was still in Tenerife and I came to watch a game of an U19 team of the club. And he entered in the last 15 minutes. He was a boy in a world of men. It was striking that he ran down everything that moved. They told me he was 16 years old. That was the initial impression."
