KUALA LUMPUR - The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) is collecting information on all Beechcraft 390 (Premier 1) type aircraft used in Malaysia.

Its Chief Executive Officer Datuk Captain Norazman Mahmud said they would conduct an investigation into all the planes after being instructed by the Transport Ministry on Friday.

"So far, we have not received the exact number of the aircraft, however, CAAM is identifying all the aircraft from all over the country including Sabah and Sarawak," he said when contacted on Saturday.

Norazman said that CAAM also assisted the Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) regarding the Beechcraft 390 (Premier 1) plane tragedy, which crashed on the Guthrie Highway, Elmina, Shah Alam, last Thursday.

"AAIB is conducting a thorough investigation and will issue a full report related to the incident, while CAAM will assist them in technical terms," he said.

Earlier, the Transport Ministry had asked CAAM to inspect all Beechcraft Model 390 (Premier 1) type aircraft used in Malaysia.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said that he did not want to make any hasty decisions regarding the suspension of the operation of the aircraft model.

In the incident last Thursday, a Beechcraft Model 390 (Premier 1) plane crashed and claimed 10 lives including the Pahang State Local Government, Housing, Environment and Green Technology Committee chairman Datuk Seri Johari Harun.

The eight who died comprised six passengers and two crew members of the plane, while the other two were civilians, a motorcyclist and an e-hailing driver who were on the highway.
