This tourist attraction was not legally built

The Cameron Highlands District Council (MDCH) recently took to their Facebook page to showcase how they had torn down the ‘mini Santorini’ in Cameron Highlands after it was discovered that the tourist attraction was built illegally.

They wrote, “The Cameron Highlands District Council has implemented enforcement action against one of the illegal constructions in Cameron Highlands, namely Cameron’s Santorini, today (August 5).”

The operation not only involved MDCH, but also regional agencies including the Cameron Highlands District and Land Office (PDTCH), the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the Pahang State Enforcement Unit (UPNP), the Cameron Highlands District Public Works Department (JKR) and Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB).

In their post, they also showcased enforcement officers demolishing the ‘mini Santorini’.

MDCH hopes that their actions against Cameron’s Santorini will act as a warning to others.

“This enforcement action has been implemented for the offence of Section 70 (1) Construction without Approval under Act 133, Roads, Drains and Buildings Act 1974,”

“Hopefully, this action can serve as a warning and a reminder to any party that intends to implement a development project to fully comply with the relevant procedures and regulations currently in force,” they added.
