Former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made a brief cameo in Katy Perry’s latest TikTok video — and fellow Canadians could not be happier for him.
Trudeau, 54, has been dating the “Firework” pop superstar, 41, for almost a year. The pair went public with their relationship in October 2025 and made their red carpet debut together last month at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of her concert film, Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour – Live from Paris.
In the clip captioned “ancient texts say that if you hop to this song you will get 1,000 years of good luck,” Perry is seen lip-syncing to her song “Watch It Burn,” while jumping around a parking lot with other members of her team. Trudeau then joins in, bouncing across the screen.
The comment section has been inundated with positive messages, particularly from Canadians, gushing about how Trudeau appears “genuinely happy.”
“I love seeing our old prime minister having the time of his life,” one wrote.

“From one Canadian: it’s nice to see Justin looking genuinely happy again. Life’s too short not to enjoy the good moments,” a second added.
“Pretty sure I spotted a very happy former Prime Minister of Canada bounce behind you,” a third observed. “He deserves to be happy, he had a s***ty 8 years but he legalized cannabis. I had the privilege of meeting his mom and he is still young and I’m so happy he’s living his best life right now.”
“This is so cuteee,” a fourth exclaimed, with another praising “the way he looks at her.”
“We love a Supportive Canadian Partner,” one declared, while another said, “I love seeing Trudaddy jumping around, looking all lovestruck at Katy.”
Trudeau served as Canada’s 23rd Prime Minister from 2015 until his resignation in March 2025 due to declining approval ratings. That summer, he sparked romance rumors with Perry after they were seen enjoying a private dinner together in Montreal, a month after her split from longtime fiancé Orlando Bloom, with whom she shares daughter, Daisy, five.
Months later, Trudeau and Perry were photographed holding hands while leaving a cabaret show in celebration of the pop star’s 41st birthday.
In April, Trudeau’s eldest son, 18-year-old singer Xavier, gave his stamp of approval to Perry, saying on an episode of the Can’t Be Censored podcast, “She’s super nice. She’s super down to earth. She’s great. I think that my dad’s happy, so that’s important.”
Xavier revealed that his own relationship with Perry has blossomed to the point of seeking career advice from her. “When I’m really happy with a song, [I] send it [to her],” he said. “She’s always happy to give me advice or tell me what I should change.”
Trudeau has three children — Xavier, Ella-Grace, 17, and Hadrien, 12 — with his estranged wife Sophie Grégoire Trudeau. The two legally separated in 2023 after 18 years of marriage.
