PENAMPANG: United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (Upko) Honorary President Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau said tabling the anti-hop law in Sabah is no longer a “should” but a “must”.
It was passed in parliament last September and for the first time provided certainty in Malaysian politics by preventing the crossover of winning candidates. As per the Malaysia Agreement 1963, Sabah and Sarawak needs to adopt it in a State Assembly sitting.
He noted that Sabah was the first to introduce the Anti-Hop law but after 1994 it was repealed.
