A car ploughed into a crowd of celebrating football fans in the Mexican resort of Cabo San Lucas after Mexico's World Cup victory over the Czech Republic in their final group-stage match, injuring at least 17 people, multiple media outlets reported.
The incident occurred on Wednesday evening on Boulevard Lázaro Cárdenas, according to the reports.
The injured were taken to various hospitals.
Alberto Rentería Santana, the secretary general of the Los Cabos municipal administration, said a driver who was in the area accelerated when he encountered a group of people on the road.
The suspected driver was arrested in the town, which lies at the southern tip of Mexico's Baja California peninsula. Investigations are ongoing.
