Sunday 10 May Brisk Walk Putrajaya 2026 in conjunction with Mothers' Day and Women Month is a significant community-driven health initiative activity and a popular recreational activity designed to combat sedentary lifestyles and obesity while promoting cardiovascular health. The flag-off for this event was graced by the President of Putrajaya Corporation, Datuk Mohd Sakeri bin Abdul Kadir, at Dataran Putrajaya, participated by Putrajaya community. It is recognized not just merely as an exercise, but as a holistic experience blending physical wellness for mental relaxation in a scenic & well-maintained greenery environment. The aim of Brisk Walk Putrajaya is fostering a healthy lifestyle, reducing chronic illness risks & promoting harmonious community. (Instagram>perbadananputrajaya<)

My wife, Zarina, and I learned from our youngest son, Fariz who run every morning for 10 km that “Brisk walking is a moderate intensity aerobic exercise, typically 3 to 3.5 mph (120 steps/min), that increases heart rate and boosts endurance better than normal walking 2-3 mph. While both improve health, brisk walking burns more calories, strengthens the muscles, and significantly improves your cardiovascular fitness compared to your normal casual stroll.”
Fariz added, “For intensity & pace that brisk walking is fast, intentional walking - too fast to sing, but you can still talk. Normal waking is a leisurely stroll or walking pace. Brisk walking raises heart rate into a moderate intensity zone, whereas normal walking has minimal impact on cardiovascular fitness.”

I am convinced that walking is one of the simplest and most effective forms for older adults, like me. It supports both physical and mental heart, helping seniors stay active, independent and thriving for longer age, with the blessing of Allah. So, as an alumni of National Heart Institute (IJN) and as one of the patients of Cardiologist, Dr. Siow Yoon Kee of the Heart Center at Sultan Idris Shah Hospital Serdang, I encouraged my wife, our children, their spouses together with their kids to participate in the Brisk Walk Putrajaya 2026. Walking with family combines the joy of exploration with comfort of togetherness.
