KUDAT: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) detained a cargo boat carrying scheduled controlled goods and ammonium nitrate fertiliser without authorisation off Dogoton waters, Pulau Banggi, on Wednesday.
Kudat Maritime Zone director Hasbullah Omar said the vessel was intercepted about 0.4 nautical miles southeast of Dogoton during an enforcement operation.
An inspection revealed the craft was operated by four men aged between 20 and 30, comprising one local and three Philippine nationals.
Hasbullah said the suspects, the cargo boat, and seized items—which included liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), wheat flour, diesel, and fertiliser valued at an estimated RM150,000—were escorted to the Kudat Port Jetty for further investigation.
The case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961, the Immigration Act 1959/63, and the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958.
