
Tenom: A cargo train carrying gravel for railway maintenance caught fire at Km 133 along the Pangi-Tenom line, around 4.14pm, on Tuesday.
Deputy Chief Minister III cum State Works Minister Datuk Shahelmey Yahya said the locomotive involved was purchased in 1971.
He said the 54-year-old locomotive was transporting gravel and materials for track repairs when the fire broke out.

“No passengers were on board,” he said.
Tenom Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Chief Mudi Pengiran said they have not received any report from the Sabah State Railway Department (JKNS).
“JBPM is waiting for a report from JKNS if the department’s management decides to submit one,” he said.
