17:21

,

Chris Wilson

Mattia Bellucci has broken the serve of Norrie in that this set to take it to 5-3, with the Italian now serving to take it to 5-4.

Plenty to go in that one for him to get it back though.

Straightforward stuff for Struff as he serves for the first time, with Alcaraz overhitting from the serve to give the German the hold.

*Struff 0-1 Alcaraz

17:17

Chris Wilson

A double fault to start for the Spaniard. Quite rare, you’d imagine.

He’s on the board soon enough, with Struff going long before an ace for the two-time winner.

And Alcaraz secures the hold as the German finds the net with his last return.

Jack Rathborn on No.1 Court:

Norrie can sniff the finish line. Bellucci has given him everything he's got and Norrie remains in every point, ready to counter-punch with the Italian.

The crowd is thrilled by the ebb and flow of these points, with every Norrie winner sparking loud cheers. No 1 Court is his favourite, after all, and Norrie is now just three games away from a fourth-round berth. The crowd is even relaxing a little, soaking in the rays from the sky and the crisp strokes from the home favourite that continue to break down the flashy Italian.

Bellucci 6-6 (5-7), 4-6, 1-4 Norrie* - Norrie breaks again!

17:09

,

Chris Wilson

Another chance at a break for Norrie?

Two errors in a row from Bellucci to make it 30-0, and then another for 40-0!

Body language isn’t positive!

And this one falls Norrie’s way, as he meets the shot low on the volley at the net to clip over a dropshot.

Norrie wastes a chance at a break by fizzing one into the net, so we move to deuce, before Bellucci manages to hold.

16:52

Chris Wilson

Taylor Fritz ha finally sealed the win over Alejandro Davidovich on Centre Court, with the American winning 6-4, 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 6-1.

That means Carlos Alcaraz will be in action soon as we approach the evening.

Bellucci 6-6 (5-7), 4-6 Norrie - Norrie wins second set!

16:51

,

Chris Wilson

Bellucci has it easy and he holds with no reply from Norrie.

So, can the Briton wrap it up as he serves for the set?

A good backhand down the line for 15-0, though Bellucci rattles in his own good forehand to level.

Norrie then goes long on the return, before Bellucci does the same to level once again. Tense on Court 1...

Some in the crowd allow themselves a cheer as Norrie goes 40-30 up though...but it’s not happening yet, as he rakes a forehand wide for deuce.

A beautiful serve sets him up to power a backhand in at the net for advantage...

And he seals it with an ace!

And another chance at a break for Norrie! A huge rally ends with Bellucci only hitting the net from a volley he should’ve been converting.

A bit of a problem for Norrie next. Bellucci finds the net for 40-0, but there’s a double fault in there from the Briton, and he found the net for 40-30 before conceding for deuce.

After a 17-shot rally, Bellucci smashes a cross-court forehand over for the advantage, but he can’t capitalise as he fails to return the next serve.

But again, superb shot from the Italian as he rifles a forehead out of reach.

And he finds the break! A brilliant backhand from Bellucci, finding the opposite corner with inch-perfect precision.

A break chance for Norrie at 40-30 in the first game of set two, but Bellucci recovers for now.

And the Italian a fairly simple return to hand Norrie the break on the first game!

Bellucci 6-6 (5-7) Norrie - Norrie wins first set!

16:10

Chris Wilson

Jack Rathborn on Court 1:

That was quite something! Norrie has captured the imagination here, the crowd is roaring into life and a nail-biting tiebreak has the Briton one-set up over the fiery Bellucci.

Those backhand exchanges produced agonising moments of tension and Norrie, despite being outgunned in terms of first serve points won (Bellucci's 75 percent to Norrie's 57 percent), has a precious lead.

Bellucci 6-6 (5-7) Norrie - Norrie wins first set!

Bellucci 6-6 (2-4 )Norrie

16:01

,

Chris Wilson

From Jack Rathborn on Court 1:

This is a scrap! Bellucci now showing the same resilience Norrie did earlier in the set. Both men trading heavy blows and digging deep. We go to the tiebreak with the set delicately poised.

Norrie roaring at every winner and directing his box to the sound of his tune.

No 1 Court has come alive for this well-matched third-round contest.

Bellucci 6-6 (1-3 )Norrie

15:58

A superb return from a Bellucci serve – right down the line with the forehand – brings Norrie to 30-all, but he scoops long on the next point before an ace gives the Italian the hold.

We’re in tie-break territory now.

Norrie wins the first point and then the second with an exceptional cross-court backhand, before rifling in an ace for 40-0 and then wrapping up the hold with some good play at the net.

Chris Wilson

Nervy times for Norrie, as he ends up trailing 40-15 in the next game, but he saves it for now as Bellucci hooks long for deuce.

And he holds on just about! A nice drop shot attempt followed by an easy volley and he goes ahead of the first time in the match.

Bellucci 4-4 Norrie* - Norrie breaks!

Chris Wilson

And Norrie does take that chance at the break, sealing it at the first time of asking!

He’s back in it for now.

*Bellucci 4-3 Norrie

15:39

,

Chris Wilson

A yelp from Norrie! A hold, and back to 3-4, just a break behind. He's grinding on serve, yet Bellucci's own service games have been ruthlessly efficient.

That arching, powerful serve is sending Norrie from tramline to tramline. But as the set meanders to a conclusion, the passion is spilling out.

Norrie with three break points and sensing a moment.

*Bellucci 4-3 Norrie

15:34

,

Chris Wilson

Once again, Bellucci wraps up his own service game quickly, holding easily enough.

In the next game, an inch-perfect forehand down the line takes him to 30-15 up, though Norrie equalises well before his own excellent forehand is out of reach for the Italian.

Miraculously, the Briton then double faults to take it to deuce.

And there’s more Bellucci brilliance to take the advantage, with the Italian raking a superb forehand across the court for the winner, though it’s not enough to take the game.

Game Norrie, as his second serve is too good for the 24-year-old.

15:30

Jack Rathborn

From Jack Rathborn on No1 Court:

The No 1 Court finally gets involved: After dropping his first seven successive points on serve, Norrie starts to throw down with Bellucci, who has brought plenty of firepower to this third-round contest.

Norrie survives three break points, with Bellucci delivering a rocket of a return that bent around the post and produced a puff of smoke as it brushed the line.

But Norrie is able to the regroup and bring in a net game to get on the board. A fun opening here, with Bellucci sliding all over the place and the crowd sensing the home favourite needs an injection of energy.

*Bellucci 3-2 Norrie

15:25

,

Chris Wilson

No problems for Bellucci in the next game, as he holds to love.

Not a great start from Norrie again, once again making an error to give away the first point of his service game, but he equalises quickly.

Some luck here but a brilliant shot from Bellucci clips the net and lands perfectly. Took the pace right out of it.

At 30-all, Bellucci mistimes the slice before the Briton overcooks the return.

We move to deuce, before a lovely ace secures the game for the home hopeful.

Norrie drives long for 30-0 and all of a sudden he could be in trouble.

Indeed he is, returning to the net to give Bellucci three break points.

Norrie smashes in the volley to bring it to 40-15, and he gets lucky as Bellucci’s return skids past the line for deuce.

Much better on the next point, as he baits the Italian into approaching before rifling a forehand passing shot.

But he loses the advantage after a simply unbelievable shot, as Bellucci returns around the net at 103mph!

No problem for now though, as he returns to the net to give Norrie his first game.

Bellucci 2-0 Norrie*

15:11

,

Chris Wilson

Six points down and nobody has won a point on serve yet. 30-0 to Norrie.

Make that seven, as Bellucci hooks a return wide.

Now, three break points for Norrie...

He lashes the first one long, before Bellucci drives across the ball for a brilliant backhand shot on the second and we have deuce as the Italian places the slice perfectly.

A lovely approach shot and volley give the Italian advantage, before Norrie hooks the return out and the Italian leads 2-0.

*Bellucci 1-0 Norrie

15:01

Lovely stuff from Fritz to construct the chance fro guide a forehand into the opposite corner.

And danger for Davidovich now as he finds himself 30-0 by returning to the net, though he finds his way level after two error from the American.

Quite the rally follows, with Fritz opening it up before hitting a lovely cross-court effort, but he can’t seal the set.

An extremely lucky return from the serve just nips over the net, giving the American gather advantage...but he lashes his return long again!

Alcaraz at Wimbledon

Chris Wilson

With Carlos Alcaraz headlining the day’s action at Wimbledon today, here’s a look at his previous record in the tournament.

The Spaniard made his debut at SW19 in 2021, losing in the second round to Daniil Medvedev, and the next year he beat today’s opponent, Jan-Lennard Struff, before losing to Jannik Sinner in the fourth round.

But his luck was to change in 2023, with the then-20-year-old beating Novak Djokovic in a mammoth five-set final to win the competition for the first time.

And he followed that with another win over the same opponent in the 2024 final, with the Spaniard now bidding to become just the fifth man in the Open Era to win Wimbledon three times in a row.

Next up for Raducanu is a clash with world No 1 Sabalenka, so a tough test awaits.

The real reason why players are only permitted to wear white at Wimbledon

12:21

,

Chris Wilson

When Carlos Alcaraz beat Jannik Sinner at the Roland Garros men’s final on 8 June 2025, in what is already seen as a classic match, there was some comment on the sartorial choices of the two players.

They both wore Nike tops. Alcaraz’s was collarless, with horizontal blue bordered green and black stripes, and black shorts.

Meanwhile Sinner wore a green polo-style shirt with collar, blue shorts and a blue Nike cap. Sinner’s shirt bore more than a passing resemblance to an Irish rugby union top, and was seen by some as somewhat incongruous on a tennis court.
