
Kota Kinabalu: Youth Development, Sports Advancement and Creative Economy Minister Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan called on newly appointed Sabah Sports Board members to carry out their duties with integrity and responsibility.
He said this in his speech after the swearing ceremony held at his Ministry on Thursday.
“I would like to congratulate all new board members, who will be carrying out their responsibilities starting today until April 2029.
“The presentation of letters of appointment and the recitation of the oath is a sacred promise and a great responsibility and I hope that all board members are aware of the main role of Sabah Sports Board,” he said.
He laid out five core measures that the board must take into consideration and implement immediately.
He said they must understand their mandate and to carry out policies in line with the Ministry’s policies. There is no room for abuse of power, cronyism or conflict of interest.
They must be able to take advantage of technology, empower digitalisation in the delivery system.
The welfare of their staff is also their main priority as well as ensuring all facilities and equipment provided to the community are in sound and safe condition.
Meanwhile, the new board committee is led by chairman Syed Ahmad Syed Abas with Datuk Janih Bangud as his deputy.
Board members are Dr Tan Kah Hock, Datin Wong Siow Lee, Bobby Balang, Datuk Penyuki Matta, Prof. Madya Dr D. Maryama Ag Daud, Tahah Malisi, Suhaili Guriaman, Muhd Arziz Afizy Rumsani, Hairul Anuar Sadon, while the two ex-officios are Datuk Mansur Asun and Noorman Ramlan.
