
The police have registered multiple criminal cases, including assault, narcotics and prison-related offences, during special operations carried out in different police station areas of Phagwara and Kapurthala.
According to the daily crime report dated City Phagwara police registered a case after a complaint by Qayammudin, a resident of Sham Nagar, Piparangi locality in Phagwara. The complainant alleged that Jagmohan, Happy and two unidentified persons assaulted and threatened him following a dispute in the area.
The police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) pertaining to assault, criminal intimidation and unlawful acts.
Officials stated that a video related to the incident was also recorded. No arrests had been reported at the time of filing the report.
Meanwhile, Sadar Phagwara police registered a case under the NDPS Act after recovering 7 gm heroin and 35 intoxicant tablets from three accused identified as Tejpal Singh, Inderjit Singh and Sunil Kumar, all residents of Khalwara village.
The accused were apprehended during a police patrol operation.
The police also confirmed that all three accused had been arrested and further investigation was underway into the source and supply network of the narcotic substances.
Meanwhile, Kotwali police registered a case under the Prison Act after prohibited items, including mobile phones, chargers, data cables, earphones and tobacco products, were allegedly recovered during a search operation inside Kapurthala Central Jail.
The case was registered against undertrial prisoner Tarndeep Singh alias Deepu and unidentified persons. Police said videography of the recovery operation was conducted inside the jail premises.
