Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s Covid-19 caseload spiked to 190 Thursday from 169 the day earlier, due to an increased positivity rate. One death was recorded in Kota Kinabalu.

Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said there were 2,152 test samples on Thursday, less than 2,219 samples the day earlier, but cases still increased as the positivity rate rose from 8.70 per cent to 9.25 per cent.

Kota Kinabalu topped the list with 84 cases, followed by Tawau (18), Sandakan (16) and Tuaran (12).

“Eleven districts recorded an increase while 12 districts recorded a decrease.

“However, the overall increase in the number of infections in the 11 districts outweighed the total decrease in the 12 districts that recorded fewer new cases.

“Six districts did not record any new infections, namely Kalabakan, Nabawan, Pitas, Semporna, Sipitang and Tongod,” said Masidi in a statement, Thursday.

He said 166 out of 169 cases were category one and two infections, while one case was each recorded in category three and four.

No new clusters were identified.
