Kota Kinabalu: Sabah recorded 273 Covid-19 cases Tuesday, an increase of 21 cases from 252 the day earlier. However, the positivity rate decreased from 12.3 per cent to 11.4 per cent.

Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said the rise was due to a higher number of test samples, which was 2,835 compared to 2,154 the day earlier.

Kota Kinabalu topped the list with 93 cases, followed by Tawau (29), Penampang (27), Sandakan (17), Papar (10) and Tongod (10).

“A total of 13 districts recorded an increase compared to seven that recorded a decrease. Among districts that recorded a significant increase are Putatan (+16), Penampang (+13), Tawau (+13), Tongod (+10) and Sipitang (+5).

“Districts that recorded a significant decrease include Kota Kinabalu (-18), Sandakan (-15), Papar (-8) and Tenom (-5)

“Five districts did not record any new cases, namely Kalabakan, Kunak, Pitas, Telupid and Tenom,” said Masidi in a statement, Tuesday.

He said 267 out of 273 cases were category one and two infections, while two were in category three, three in category four and one in category five. 80 per cent were sporadic infections. No deaths or new clusters were identified.
