Kota Kinabalu: Sabah recorded 252 new Covid-19 cases on Monday, a drop of seven cases compared to Sunday’s 259.

Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said the situation has not changed much from Sunday’s.

He said what caused the decrease in the number of daily cases was the lower number of test samples than the previous number.

“The total number of samples today is 2,154 compared to 2,281 yesterday (Sunday),” he said in a statement, Monday.

Kota Kinabalu still recorded triple-digit infections with 111 cases (+6), followed by six districts that recorded double-digit infections.

These are Sandakan 32 cases (+15), Papar 18 cases (+5), Tawau 16 cases (-3), Penampang 14 cases (-11), Putatan 11 cases (-11) and Tuaran also 11 cases (-17).

Beaufort which did not record any infections on Sunday recorded eight new cases Monday. The number of districts that did not record any new cases decreased to seven from 10 districts on Sunday.

Coincidentally 17 out of 27 districts in Sabah are now in the Red Zone after recording cumulative cases of more than 40 over a period of 14 days.

Meanwhile, 249 out of Monday’s 252 cases are in Category One and Two, while three cases are in Category Three.
