Poland fullback Matty Cash struck twice and Moussa Diaby also scored for the visitors.
Lyle Foster had pulled the scores back to 2-1, but Diaby hit a superb effort to take the game away from the hosts.
Diaby also laid on an assist for Cash.
Villa have now won their last three games after opening the season with a 5-1 defeat at Newcastle.
