Casio has teamed up with French-Japanese lifestyle brand Café Kitsuné for a new take on its AQ-230 analogue-digital watch, distinguished by a matcha green colour palette and details drawn from the café’s visual identity.
The AQ-230ECK retains the compact, square-faced design of the original AQ-230 while introducing matcha green tones across the dial and other elements of the watch. The colour references Café Kitsuné’s longstanding association with Japanese tea culture; the brand introduced matcha to its Paris café in 2014 as part of its efforts to introduce Japanese tea to a wider audience.
Collaboration details are kept relatively subtle. Café Kitsuné’s fox motif appears on the dial and case back, while its logo is engraved on the case back and clasp. The watch comes in special packaging featuring the same matcha-inspired palette.
Founded in 2013, Café Kitsuné now has more than 32 locations worldwide, including in Paris and Tokyo. Its cafés combine French and Japanese influences, alongside a focus on specialty coffee.
Beyond its design, the AQ-230ECK retains the practical features associated with the AQ-230. These include water resistance, an alarm, stopwatch, hourly time signal, auto calendar and EL backlight, while its lightweight construction is intended for everyday wear.
The result is a collaboration that brings together Casio’s functional analogue-digital format with Café Kitsuné’s Paris-meets-Tokyo aesthetic, using one of Japan’s most recognisable contemporary food and lifestyle motifs as its central visual cue.
