MANILA, Philippines — Palace Press Officer Claire Castro urged Filipinos to pray for the truth to emerge pertaining to the scrutiny of the financial transactions of Vice President Sara Duterte and her husband, lawyer Manases Carpio.
This comes after Carpio accused the government of unfairly dragging him into the impeachment proceedings against his wife amid questions about the couple’s financial transactions that transpired during the Senate Impeachment Court.
“All Filipinos should pray for the truth to come out because a lot is being hidden right now,” said Castro in Filipino on Saturday.
She added that under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s term, no one would be shielded from corruption investigations, regardless of their relationship with government officials.
“No one is spared; say relatives, friends, allies, if there is evidence against them about what is wrong, it should be investigated,” she said.
Castro also urged the public to pray to the “true God” and join Carpio in his prayers for the truth to come out.
“Let us all pray along with Mans Carpio to pray to the true God,” she added.
