Members of Spain's Civil Guard rescued several dogs and a cat after floodwaters submerged homes in and around Jerez de la Frontera on Thursday.

The flooding followed heavy rain that caused the River Guadalete to burst its banks, inundating low-lying areas. Residents were urged to stay alert as water levels rose quickly, leaving little time to secure homes or belongings.

The incident comes as storm front Kristin sweeps across the Iberian Peninsula. Authorities say the system has caused at least four deaths in Portugal and two in Spain, with emergency services on high alert for further flooding.
