Miscreants nabbed by the CIA-1 unit of Ambala police.

The CIA-1 unit of Ambala Police nabbed two miscreants after a brief exchange of fire in the Mullana area on late Friday evening.

The accused were identified as Monish and Riyan, residents of Uttar Pradesh. As per a police spokesperson, Riyan has suffered a bullet injury in the exchange of fire. They were involved in a recent cattle smuggling incident in which a youth was killed.

The CIA-1 in-charge Harjinder Singh said that there was a tip-off regarding two suspects on a two-wheeler without number plate in the Mullana area. They were carrying a weapon to commit a big crime.

Following the information, the teams were alerted, and a search was launched. As the team tried to nab the suspects, the sped on their two-wheeler. During the chase, they opened fire at the CIA team, their two-wheeler rammed into a tree and they fell down. The suspect riding the two-wheeler suffered injuries while the one riding pillion, suffered a bullet injury in the exchange of fire.

They were taken to a private hospital from where they have been shifted to the Civil Hospital in Ambala City.

During preliminary investigation, it has come to light that they were involved in the cattle smuggling incident in which the accused had pelted stones at the police party during the chase and had opened fire in which a youth was killed. There are a number of old criminal cases registered against them. A weapon has been recovered from their possession, he added.

On the night of May 1, Gurpreet Singh, alias Happy, was killed after suffering a bullet injury when he was returning with his friend after completing his night shift.
