
RANAU: The continuous rainy season in the district is posing a challenge to climbers of Mount Kinabalu as tracks become more slippery compared to the condition during the dry season.
Ranau Fire and Rescue Chief Ridwan Mohd Taib reiterated that all would-be climbers must take a serious assessment of their health before climbing the mountain.

“Always climb in groups, don't walk alone and make sure to be attentive to the advice of the guides to avoid any untoward incidents,” he said

The Sabah Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 7.58am regarding the incident at Km 7.2 of the mountain trail.
Advertisement (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});A team of seven rescuers from the Mountain Search and Rescue (Mosar) unit of the Fire and Rescue Department, led by operation commander Mourice B. Ubin, was immediately despatched.
Mosar has several stations with personnel on standby along the trail, and the site of the incident was around 2km from the nearest station.

Due to her condition, the team, in collaboration with Sabah Parks' search and rescue unit (Parksar), used a Robinson stretcher to carefully carry her down to the Timpohon Gate, which is the entry point to Mount Kinabalu.
The operation concluded at 1.15pm, when she was handed over to an ambulance personnel to be taken to hospital for further treatment.
