MANILA, Philippines — Cebu Pacific (CEB) won its lawsuit against Malaysia-based MOVE Travel Sdn Bhd for its unauthorized use of Cebu Pacific and Cebgo trademarks and sale of its flight tickets.
CEB announced that the Malaysian High Court in Kuala Lumpur ruled in favor of the Philippine budget carrier. The court held MOVE liable for passing off and declared Cebu Pacific and Cebgo as well-known trademarks.
Under the permanent injunction, MOVE is restrained from distributing, offering, or selling Cebu Pacific flights through its booking platform.
The court also ordered MOVE to pay RM120,000 in legal costs to CEB. Separate proceedings will determine additional damages.
Cebu Pacific initiated the lawsuit in June 2024 after discovering the unauthorized use of its brand assets.
While the airline emphasized that it supported travel platforms operating with proper authorization, it reminded passengers that booking directly through its official channels remained the best way to secure the lowest fares and receive direct flight updates.
