The 25th GACC, held in 2022, serves as a compelling illustration of the tournament's enduring legacy and its ability to adapt and thrive. Bearing the theme "Advance in Adversity," this edition highlighted the resilience of the chess community in the face of challenges, reaffirming the championship's importance as a consistent event in the Malaysian chess calendar. The Deputy Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs at Universiti Malaya acknowledged the GACC as the "grandest event organised by students," underscoring the remarkable organizational capabilities and commitment of the student organizers.
Throughout its 25-year journey, the GACC has garnered crucial support from key stakeholders in the chess world. The Malaysian Chess Federation, along with state and national chess associations, has played a vital role in sanctioning and promoting the tournament, contributing to its growth and prestige.
