Maya Jama’s time on The Celebrity Traitors may be running out… after viewers suggested she may have exposed herself as a Traitor during the most recent task.
In a hilarious plot twist, Jama and her fellow Traitors James Acaster and King Kenny were tasked with murdering a Faithful in plain sight, by attempting to “bore them to death”. They would achieve this by spraying “deadly sleeping powder” from a perfume bottle into a room, wait for whichever Faithfuls enter the room, and then somehow get one of them to yawn. Upon witnessing the yawn, one of the Traitors would have to say “Am I boring you?”, followed by their name, sealing their fate in the process.
The incredibly convoluted task saw Ross Kemp and Jerry Hall become the unlucky pair to stumble into the poisoned room, leaving Jama and Acaster grasping at straws to encourage a yawn. For Jama, this involved repeatedly yawning herself, in the hopes it’d make either Kemp or Hall to mimic her.
However, some fans found Jama’s fake yawning more ridiculous than canny.
“Maya is absolutely overdoing it with these yawns,” wrote one viewer on X. “I fear when they find out there was a murder in plain sight, everyone who was in that room will immediately clock her being weird.”
Others also suggested that the incredibly perceptive and surreally paranoid Ross Kemp is one of the worst people to try to murder in plain sight.
“Ross clocking Maya’s GCSE drama yawning,” joked one X user, alongside a GIF of a dog looking suspicious.

“OK this will happen,” theorised another viewer. “Jerry will yawn and she gets murdered, [or] Ross will immediately twig and next morning will confront James A and Maya, [or] Kenny won’t be mentioned as he wasn’t in the room. [Or] James A will defend himself better than Maya, [or] Maya banished.”
The latest plot turn – which won’t reach its conclusion until next Thursday’s episode – arrives at a perilous time for the Traitors, with Hannah Fry becoming the second Traitor to be banished earlier this week, and King Kenny recruited in response.
The show, which also features stars including Miranda Hart, Michael Sheen and James Blunt, has been a runaway success for BBC One, though the broadcaster has had to warn several of its participants for leaking plot details to their loved ones.
This week’s episodes saw the successful banishment of Traitor Hannah Fry, as well as the unsuccessful banishment of Faithful Joe Lycett, who earlier had begged to be recruited by the Traitors.
Fry claimed after her banishment that Jama and Acaster were already at risk, suggesting she noticed patterns in behaviour during the competition that may expose them to people paying attention.
The Celebrity Traitors continues next Thursday at 8pm on BBC One.
