- Journalist Amol Rajan became the first contestant to be "murdered" by traitors Maya Jama and Richard E Grant as the second episode of The Celebrity Traitors was getting underway, while comedian James Acaster was recruited as the third traitor.
- Thursday’s opening edition of the BBC reality game show concluded with a cliffhanger, showing Acaster and Rajan meeting TV presenter Jama and actor Grant face to face to argue why they should be seduced into becoming a traitor instead of being eliminated.
- Upon learning his fate in Friday’s broadcast, University Challenge presenter Rajan said: "It’s game over, it’s gutting to be the first out, but James is a fantastic player, and I guess people aren’t going to suspect him, and they might suspect me."
- Speaking on spin-off show Celebrity Traitors Uncloaked, Rajan added the murder was “one of the most intense moments of my life”.
- Revealing how he felt when he was summoned to the church, Rajan said: “I believed, foolishly and naively, that I wasn’t going to die, I’m going to be recruited.” He summed his experience on the show as “blessed, brutal and unforgettable”.
