
Member of Parliament (MP) Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal inspected the upcoming Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji State Institute of Medical Sciences here to review its ongoing infrastructure development and the Health Department’s relocation arrangements.
Accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Akash Bansal and Civil Surgeon Dr Sanjeev Bhagat, Dr Chabbewal was briefed on the project’s progress and measures taken to ensure uninterrupted public healthcare services during the transition.
“The Punjab Government is committed to strengthening public healthcare and ensuring quality medical services for its residents,” Dr Chabbewal said. He emphasised that once operational, the medical college would provide advanced healthcare facilities under one roof, significantly boosting the region’s medical infrastructure.
During the review of the shifting process, the MP sought detailed updates on the relocation of the blood bank and other essential services. He directed officials to execute the transition efficiently to prevent any public inconvenience. Reassuring residents, he noted that adequate measures were already in place to handle potential bottlenecks, reiterating that seamless healthcare delivery remained the administration’s top priority.
The MP also reviewed key public health initiatives in the district, including the Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme, the TB eradication campaign, de-addiction programmes and the functioning of the Aam Aadmi Clinics.
Deputy Commissioner Akash Bansal assured full administrative support to the Health Department for a smooth transition.
