Bhupender Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director, alongside Ajay Kumar Sharma, Director (Personnel), congratulated Rajesh Kumar Chandel on assuming charge as Director (Projects) of the SJVN, a Navratna CPSE under the Ministry of Power, Government of India.
Parthajit De, Director (Finance), Pankaj Porwal, CVO, and other senior officials also welcomed Chandel at the SJVN Liaison Office in New Delhi.
Chandel currently serves as OSD to the CMD at SJVN. Previously, he was the Chief Executive Officer of SJVN’s wholly-owned subsidiaries in Nepal — the SJVN Arun-3 Power Development Company Pvt Ltd (SAPDC) and SJVN Lower Arun Power Development Company Private Limited (SLPDC). Since October 2025, he has overseen the 900 MW Arun-3 and 669 MW Lower Arun Hydro Electric Projects.
With over 35 years of experience in the power sector specialising in hydropower, Chandel excels in project conceptualisation, planning, execution, monitoring and international coordination across India, Nepal and Bhutan. He brings leadership, interpersonal skills and the technical expertise essential for executing complex power projects. Born on September 14, 1971, in Mahre village, Hamirpur, Chandel holds a degree in Civil Engineering and a Master’s in Business Administration. He is also a Fellow of The Institution of Engineers (India), Kolkata, and a Chartered Engineer.
