Chandigarh Mayor Saurabh Joshi on Monday conducted an extensive inspection of Sector 15, including its residential and market areas, ahead of the launch of the Municipal Corporation’s ward-wise deep-cleaning drive scheduled to begin on June 16.

Joshi was accompanied by Joint Commissioner Balbir Raj Singh, superintending engineers, executive engineers, health supervisors and other MC officials.

During the visit, the Mayor reviewed sanitation conditions, civic infrastructure and maintenance requirements across various parts of the sector. Sector 15 will be the first area to be covered under the city-wide drive.

He directed the concerned departments to ensure meticulous planning and seamless execution of the campaign. Stressing the need for coordinated efforts, Joshi instructed officials to deploy the required machinery, equipment and manpower to ensure visible and lasting improvements in cleanliness and public amenities.

The Mayor said the initiative aims to provide residents with a cleaner, healthier and more aesthetically pleasing environment. He added that the drive would comprehensively address sanitation, sweeping, horticulture maintenance, pruning of trees, repair of footpaths, road gullies, service lanes, railings and electrical infrastructure.

Joshi reiterated the Municipal Corporation’s commitment to improving urban cleanliness and strengthening civic infrastructure through sustained and result-oriented initiatives across all wards of the city.
