With an aim to increase the number of self-certified property IDs in the city, the Karnal Municipal Corporation (KMC) has intensified its awareness and facilitation campaign by organising ward-wise mega camps and providing special assistance at its office.

Under this drive, special camps are being conducted every Monday and Tuesday in two wards each day to help residents complete the self-certification process of their property IDs. As per the KMC officials, a total of 12 camps have been organised so far across different wards of the city.

Two such camps were held in Ward 6 and Ward 16 on Tuesday, where around 50 property IDs were successfully self-certified. Officials said the camps received a positive response from residents, who were guided through the certification process by dedicated teams.

The data collected from the KMC office says, there are a total of 1,72,660 property IDs within the jurisdiction of the KMC. Out of these, nearly 72,000 property IDs have already been self-certified. The civic body is now focusing on accelerating the process to ensure maximum participation from property owners.

Municipal officials claimed that once a property ID is self-certified, it becomes secure and hidden from public view. This not only maintains confidentiality but also prevents the possibility of misuse of property-related information. They said the initiative would help streamline property records, enhance transparency in municipal administration and improve the efficiency of property tax collection.

Zonal Taxation Officer Ankush Parashar said property owners are required to register on the portal, verify their property details to complete the self-certification process.

Tax Superintendent Gagandeep Singh appealed to residents to actively participate in the campaign and get their property IDs self-certified at the earliest. He urged citizens to take advantage of the ward-level camps and special arrangements made by the KMC to complete the process conveniently.
