- Montgomery undertook the six-week journey, named One Last Ride, with his grandson Tom Malcom, travelling from Broome to his home in Bowral.
- The ride was part of his dedicated effort to raise funds and awareness for Motor Neurone Disease New South Wales.
- He successfully raised £104,965 during this final ride, contributing to a total of almost £300,000 across six charity bike rides.
- Montgomery, who experienced a medical episode, was passionate about the cause after his cousin died from the neurological condition 12 years prior.
