Nate Diaz has long been tied to the BMF belt’s identity. The American was central to its creation, facing Jorge Masvidal for the inaugural title in 2019.
Diaz lost that bout after the fight was stopped due to a severe eye cut. Despite that, he has continued to claim ownership over the belt’s legacy.
Recently, he has turned his attention to Charles Oliveira. Diaz has suggested the Brazilian, who won it against Max Holloway, does not deserve to hold the BMF title, reigniting debate around the belt.
Charles Oliveira fires back at Nate Diaz and questions his BMF claim

Oliveira has responded again to Diaz’s comments. Speaking with Central do MMA, the Brazilian did not hold back in his assessment.
“In fact, Nate has been talking a lot of b——, like he has done his whole life. He said I have the belt that was his, but when he had the opportunity to fight, he didn’t win, he lost it, so I didn’t understand,” the former lightweight champion stated.
‘Do Bronx’ also challenged Diaz to settle the matter inside the Octagon.
He concluded: “As I said, I’m looking for a title, I have to understand what the UFC is trying to do. But if we see that the title is going to take a while, why doesn’t he come and try to take what he says was his?”
Charles Oliveira leaves door open but Nate Diaz clash remains unlikely
Despite the strong words, Oliveira has not ruled out a fight. His comments made it clear he would be open to facing Diaz if the opportunity arises.
However, the likelihood of that bout appears low. Diaz has aligned himself with Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotion, making a UFC return increasingly uncertain.
At 41, the American star is also approaching the latter stages of his career. Oliveira, meanwhile, is building momentum after two dominant wins.
His focus remains on the lightweight title picture. Potential movement involving Ilia Topuria and Islam Makhachev could soon open a path back to championship contention.
