AN alarming message on an airline’s chatbot resulted in a bomb threat alert at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3, the Philippine National Police-Aviation Security Group (Avsegroup) reported on Saturday.
Airport authorities said that the airline’s customer relations center received a message on Sept. 17, claiming that a bomb had been planted inside a restroom at NAIA Terminal 3.
After the report was forwarded to Airline Airport Operations and NAIA Police Station 3, the Avsegroup’s Aviation Security Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit immediately contained and cordoned off the affected restroom and adjacent terminal zones.
Avsegroup said that three explosive-detection dogs conducted paneling, systematically sweeping the designated restroom, trash receptacles and clearing operations along the arrival and departure areas.
After conducting covert monitoring, intelligence personnel declared the areas clear of explosives. Airport operations remain unaffected while authorities track the source of the chatbot message.
