BOC opens special X-ray lanes for OFWs at NAIA, Clark

THE Bureau of Customs (BOC) has set up dedicated X-ray lanes for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) at major international airports to speed up Customs processing for departing and returning workers.

The special lanes are currently implemented at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminals 1 and 3, as well as Clark International Airport.

According to Customs Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno, the designated lines aim to improve passenger flow, cut down wait times, and streamline baggage examinations while maintaining standard border security and customs compliance.

The BOC plans to progressively expand the dedicated lanes to other international airports and passenger terminals nationwide.

“We recognize the important contribution of our OFWs, hindi lamang sa kanilang mga pamilya kundi pati na rin sa ating bansa (not only to their families but also to our country),” Nepomuceno said. “Through these dedicated X-ray lanes, gusto nating gawing mas mabilis, maayos, at convenient ang kanilang pagdaan sa Customs. Layunin nating palawakin pa ang initiative na ito sa iba pang international gateways para mas maraming OFWs ang makinabang sa mas maayos na serbisyo (We want to make their passage through Customs faster, more orderly, and convenient. We aim to expand this initiative to other international gateways so more OFWs can benefit from better service).”

The bureau said the project is part of a broader modernization program under Nepomuceno, which uses technology and simplified procedures to balance passenger convenience with border protection.
