MANILA, Philippines — The prosecution panel of the House of Representatives has designated Rep. Chel Diokno to lead its oral arguments before the Senate impeachment court on Wednesday, while Vice President Sara Duterte’s camp will be represented by lawyer Michael Poa.
The oral arguments will center on the prosecution’s request for subpoenas covering Duterte’s bank records, Bureau of Internal Revenue documents and Anti-Money Laundering Council records, which prosecutors say are relevant to the Article II charge on alleged unexplained wealth.
No witnesses are scheduled to testify during Wednesday’s proceedings, with the impeachment court instead hearing legal arguments from both sides before deliberating on whether to grant the requested subpoenas.
