MANILA, Philippines — The Senate Impeachment Court on Wednesday decided to further study the motion of the prosecution to subpoena the bank and tax records of Vice President Sara Duterte and her husband, Manases Carpio.
The senator-judges arrived at the decision after they held a caucus to discuss the matter. They heard first the oral arguments of the prosecution and defense before they conducted the closed door meeting.
The court's Presiding Officer Francis Escudero said the senator-judges wanted "more time to look into" the matter.
The senator-judges "agreed to decide on the matter on Monday," Escudero said.
He said the senator-judges who wished to ask the parties questions "will be awarded the time to ask both sides."
"Following our rules, it shall be 10 minutes per senator, [and] not exceeding one hour for each side," Escudero said.
