Chelsea are fretting over their bid to sign Sevilla and France centre-back Jules Kounde.
The defender was subbed off at half-time during France's UEFA Nations League loss to Croatia at home on Monday.
After the game, France boss Didier Deschamps stated that Kounde may need surgery on a knee issue that has troubled him for some time.
If Kounde is not fully fit in the coming weeks, he may have a hard time passing his medical, were Chelsea to reach an agreement with Sevilla for his signature.
"I knew very well his physical condition today," said Deschamps post-game.
"Tomorrow [Tuesday] he will have a [surgical] intervention because he has a problem that has been going on for several months."
