Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino admits Christopher Nkunku is unlikely to make Sunday's trip to Everton.
The summer signing is working his way back from preseason knee surgery.
Pochettino said: "Still assessing day by day, see tomorrow. I don't believe that he will be involved but we need to assess day by day. We see also if Malo Gusto can be available but apart from that no.
"I think it is not fair to talk too much about progress because all of the circumstances are difficult because we need to evaluate day by day and game by game.
"It's true, it's not excuse because we are in a club that needs to win and deliver our job."
